A professional cornhole player and quadruple amputee, Charles Webber, has been accused of fatally shooting a passenger in his car during an argument in Maryland, leading to first-degree murder charges.
Charles Webber, a professional cornhole player and quadruple amputee, stands accused of fatally shooting Bradrick Michael Wells, 27, a passenger in the front seat of a car he was driving during an argument in Maryland. Charles County authorities are seeking his extradition from Virginia to face charges including first-degree murder, second-degree murder, and related offenses. According to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office, Webber pulled over after the shooting in La Plata, Maryland, and asked two back-seat passengers to help remove the victim. When the witnesses refused and instead flagged down police officers, Webber allegedly fled with the victim still inside the vehicle. Two hours later, a resident in Charlotte Hall, about 10 miles away, reported a body in a yard, which was identified as Wells, pronounced dead at the scene. Webber had previously shared his inspiring story in a 2023 essay for the 'Today' show, detailing how doctors amputated his arms and legs at 10 months old due to a severe blood infection, and how he learned to play professional cornhole using his amputated limbs. The American Cornhole League has acknowledged the allegations but stated it would not comment on what it termed 'an active legal situation'.
