Nintendo Switch 2: A $450 Price Tag Doesn't Stop Fans!
by Aaron Irving in gamingThe highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 finally launched on Thursday, eight years after its predecessor. Despite a $450 price tag (or $500 with the new Mario Kart World game), fans worldwide lined up to purchase the console. The release follows months of anticipation, pre-order issues, and concerns about potential tariff delays. The Switch 2 boasts interactive chat, screen sharing, a more vibrant display, and a larger screen. It aims to revitalize Nintendo's declining sales, following a 43% profit decline in the fiscal year ending March 2024. Nintendo projects sales of 15 million Switch 2 units by March 2026. Pre-orders were plagued by delays and errors due to high demand, and the initial rollout was impacted by concerns over potential tariffs imposed by the previous administration. Despite these challenges, the Switch 2 is available online and at major retailers, but shortages are anticipated.
