An Arizona jury found Lori Vallow Daybell guilty of conspiring to murder her estranged husband, Charles Vallow. This adds another life sentence to her existing Idaho sentence for the killings of her two youngest children and a romantic rival. Prosecutors argued she conspired with her brother, Alex Cox, in the July 2019 shooting death of Charles Vallow, motivated by life insurance money and her desire to marry Chad Daybell. Jurors deliberated for three hours over two days. Vallow Daybell, representing herself, remained mostly still during the verdict reading. Juror Victoria Lewis commented on Vallow Daybell's demeanor during the trial, noting her lack of seriousness. Vallow Daybell claimed self-defense, stating Charles Vallow chased her with a bat and her brother shot him after she left. Cox, who also claimed self-defense, died five months later. This is the first of two Arizona trials for Vallow Daybell; the next involves the attempted murder of Brandon Boudreaux. Adam Cox, another brother, testified against Vallow Daybell, stating his belief in her and Alex's guilt. He also revealed Vallow Daybell's claims of her husband being a zombie before his death. Four months prior to his death, Charles Vallow filed for divorce, citing Vallow Daybell's obsession with near-death experiences and claims of past lives, along with financial threats and threats on his life. He sought a mental health evaluation for his wife.
