Coco Gauff, 21, secured her second title of the year and 11th career title by beating fellow American Jessica Pegula 6-4, 7-5 at the Wuhan Open. Gauff, ranked third, demonstrated a remarkable comeback in the second set, reeling off four straight games after being down 5-3 to clinch the victory. This win marks her first time winning a title without dropping a set. Pegula, 31, who had previously beaten top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinals, missed out on her 10th career title. This was their seventh career meeting and first in a final, with Pegula still leading their head-to-head 4-3. Gauff praised Pegula at the trophy ceremony for her kindness and welcoming attitude when she joined the tour, expressing hopes for more finals against her. Gauff now boasts an 11-3 record in finals, while Pegula dropped to 9-11.
