James Cameron's 'Avatar: Fire and Ash' topped the box office for a fifth straight weekend, while the critically praised '28 Years Later: The Bone Temple' underperformed in second. 'Zootopia 2' also set a new record as the highest-grossing animated MPA release of all time.

James Cameron's 'Avatar: Fire and Ash' continued its dominant run, securing the top spot at the North American box office for the fifth consecutive weekend with $13.3 million. In contrast, Nia DaCosta's '28 Years Later: The Bone Temple,' despite strong critical reviews (93% on Rotten Tomatoes) and audience recommendation, opened in second place with $13 million, falling short of its holiday weekend projections. The horror sequel, released less than a year after its predecessor, faces an uphill battle to recoup its reported $63 million production budget. Disney's 'Zootopia 2' celebrated a significant milestone, becoming the highest-grossing animated Motion Picture Association release of all time with global grosses reaching $1.7 billion, making it the ninth biggest global release ever. Other notable films in the top 10 included 'The Housemaid' in fourth place with $8.5 million, and 'Marty Supreme' which became A24's highest-grossing North American release. Classic re-releases 'Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring' and 'The Two Towers' also made it into the top 10.
