Marlon Brando's son, Miko Brando, is in court seeking to establish his official birthdate after struggling to renew his passport due to a missing birth certificate. He's using a typed letter from his late father as evidence.

Miko Brando, son of the legendary Marlon Brando and Movita Brando, has initiated legal proceedings to resolve a long-standing issue concerning his birth certificate. Born Sergio Brando on February 26, 1961, in Mexico while his film actor parents were traveling, he has gone by Miko for decades. Despite obtaining a Foreign Service ID at age 5 and a U.S. Social Security card around 1965, his birthdate became ambiguous. In 1979, his father Marlon reportedly suggested a birthdate of December 30, 1959, which was then used on Miko's passport for over 45 years without incident. However, when Miko applied for a new passport in April 2024, he was asked for his birth certificate, which he lacks. To support his petition to officially establish his birthdate and renew his passport, Miko has submitted various documents, including a noteworthy letter from Marlon Brando to Miko's school principal from when Miko was nine, informing the school that he would be taking his son to the South Pacific and requesting his school books for the trip.
