Vermont Border Patrol Shooting
by Alan Iverson in crimeA 21-year-old Washington state woman, Teresa Youngblut, was arrested for fatally shooting a US Customs and Border Protection agent, David Maland, during a traffic stop in Vermont. The incident occurred on Monday on Interstate 91 in Coventry when Agent Maland stopped Youngblut and her passenger, Felix Baukholt, a German national, due to Baukholt's seemingly expired visa. Gunfire erupted, resulting in injuries to both Maland and Baukholt, who later succumbed to their injuries. The pair had been under surveillance for several days prior to the shooting after a hotel employee reported seeing Youngblut with a gun and both individuals in tactical gear. Youngblut has been charged with assault on a federal law enforcement officer.
