The driver involved in a deadly car crash that injured heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua and killed two of his friends in Nigeria has been charged with dangerous and reckless driving.
Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, 46, was charged with dangerous and reckless driving, among other counts, in southwestern Ogun state following Monday’s crash. The vehicle, carrying Joshua, Sina Ghami, and Latif “Latz” Ayodele, hit a stationary truck on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. Kayode, who has been in custody since Thursday and was granted bail of 5 million naira ($3,480), faces charges including dangerous driving causing death and driving without a valid license. He remains remanded pending meeting his bail condition. Two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua sustained minor injuries and was released from the hospital on Wednesday, deemed clinically fit to recuperate at home. Joshua, who holds Nigerian nationality and has family roots there, will remain in Nigeria. The court case has been adjourned to January 20 for trial.
