Five people died in a massive multi-vehicle crash involving over 30 vehicles on a Colorado interstate after extreme winds created a 'brown out' with near-zero visibility, causing a deadly pileup on Tuesday morning.

A total of five people have tragically died in crashes on a Colorado interstate involving over 30 vehicles, including seven semitrailers, after heavy winds created a 'brown out' by kicking up dirt from parched land, making visibility nearly impossible. The incident occurred around 10 a.m. Tuesday, with gusts reaching up to 70 mph. The injured were transported to hospitals with injuries ranging from minor to severe. While crashes occurred on both sides of the interstate, the southbound side only resulted in property damage. One vehicle involved was a pickup hauling 30 sheep and one goat; four sheep were severely injured and could not recover. The cause of the crashes, about 2 miles from Pueblo, is still under investigation, with lack of visibility considered a primary factor. The same strong winds and dry conditions also contributed to wildfires and flight delays at Denver's airport, with elevated fire danger continuing into Wednesday.
