The San Francisco 49ers have voided over $26 million in guaranteed money for Brandon Aiyuk's 2026 contract due to his failure to participate in team activities and meetings while recovering from knee surgery.
The San Francisco 49ers have voided more than $26 million in guaranteed money for wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk's 2026 contract, which was part of the four-year, $120 million extension he signed last year. This decision was made earlier this year after Aiyuk reportedly failed to participate in team meetings and other required activities. Aiyuk has been out all season recovering from knee surgery and remains on the physically unable to perform list with no set timeline for his return. This move provides the 49ers with the option to cut Aiyuk next year, incurring approximately $29.5 million in dead money charges on the salary cap for bonuses already paid, which could be split over two years. Aiyuk, 27, was a second-team All-Pro in 2023, recording 75 catches for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns, but played only seven games last season before his injury.
