The 2026 Emmy nominations have been revealed, highlighting major snubs for popular shows like Stranger Things and Half Man, while celebrating surprising double nominations for actors like Matthew Rhys. Widow's Bay and Hacks are poised to dominate the awards season.

The 2026 Emmy nominations, announced across 118 categories, have stirred controversy and excitement. The author humorously criticizes the Television Academy for overlooking 'Survivor' in sound mixing. Major snubs include 'Stranger Things,' which was entirely shut out of main categories despite its widespread success, and 'Half Man,' which received only one supporting actor nomination despite its 'prestige' positioning. Jon Hamm ('Your Friends and Neighbors') and Paul Anthony Kelly ('Love Story') also surprisingly missed out on acting nods, even as their respective shows earned other nominations. On a more positive note, Matthew Rhys stands out with two lead acting nominations for different roles in 'The Beast in Me' (limited/anthology) and 'Widow's Bay' (comedy). Other actors like Colman Domingo, Jason Bateman, Martin Short, Laurie Metcalf, and Nick Offerman also received multiple nominations. 'Widow's Bay' is lauded as a potential major winner, with up to 18 possible Emmys, and Rhys is particularly praised for his performance in it. However, it faces strong competition from 'Hacks,' which secured a record 24 nominations. 'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms' also earned a surprising best drama nomination. The Emmy awards ceremony is scheduled for September.
