Major League Baseball has revealed the umpire crew for the World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays, with Mark Wegner making his debut as crew chief and four umpires making their first Series appearances.
Mark Wegner will serve as the World Series umpire crew chief for the first time, leading a seven-member team for the matchup between the defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays. The crew includes Jordan Baker, Adam Hamari, Adrian Johnson, Will Little, Alan Porter, and John Tumpane. Adam Hamari, Adrian Johnson, Will Little, and John Tumpane are making their World Series debuts. Wegner, a 53-year-old who began umpiring in MLB in 1998, previously worked the Series in 2013 and 2017. Alan Porter, 47, is working his third Series, and Jordan Baker, 43, his second. Will Little is scheduled to be behind the plate for Friday’s opener in Toronto, with Wegner at first base, Tumpane at second, Porter at third, Hamari in left field, Baker in right, and Johnson as the reserve. Johnson will work the plate in Game 2, with Porter serving as the crew chief for that game. According to umpscorecards.com, Porter had the third-highest accuracy on balls and strikes in MLB this year at 95.46%. Dan Iassogna and Jeremie Rehak will be the video review umpires.
