The 83rd Golden Globe nominations are set to be announced Monday morning, with 'Sinners,' 'Wicked: For Good,' and 'One Battle After Another' among the most anticipated films. This year marks the debut of a best podcast trophy and continues the Globes' transition with new ownership and a larger voting body.
Nominations for the 83rd Golden Globes will be revealed this Monday morning, starting at 8:15 a.m. Eastern on CBSNews.com, CBS News YouTube, and TikTok channels, with a second wave at 8:30 a.m. Eastern on 'CBS Mornings.' Marlon Wayans and Skye P. Marshall are set to announce the nominees. Films expected to receive multiple nominations include 'Sinners,' 'Wicked: For Good,' and 'One Battle After Another.' The Globes split awards between drama and comedy-musical, with six nominees per category, allowing for both favorites and unexpected entries. This year brings a notable change: the introduction of a best podcast trophy, adding to the two-year-old cinematic and box-office achievement award, previously won by 'Barbie' and 'Wicked.' The Golden Globes have undergone significant restructuring following past scandals involving the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. In 2023, the ceremony was sold to Todd Boehly’s Eldridge Industries and Dick Clark Productions, and a new, larger voting body of over 300 people now decides the awards. The event also moved from NBC to CBS under a shorter, less expensive deal. The main ceremony, hosted by the returning Nikki Glaser, will air on CBS and stream on Paramount+ on January 11. Last year, Glaser received positive reviews, though ratings slightly dipped to 9.3 million viewers. In the current awards season, Paul Thomas Anderson’s 'One Battle After Another' is considered an Oscar best picture front-runner, with 'Hamnet,' 'Sentimental Value,' and 'Marty Supreme' also in contention. Helen Mirren will be honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award in a separate Jan. 8 special, and Sarah Jessica Parker will receive the Carol Burnett Award.
