After 13 years, Kathleen Kennedy is stepping down as head of Lucasfilm, with Dave Filoni and Lynwen Brennan now leading the 'Star Wars' franchise into its next chapter.

Kathleen Kennedy is departing Lucasfilm after more than a decade at the helm of the 'Star Wars' factory. The Walt Disney Co. has announced Dave Filoni will take over as President and Chief Creative Officer, alongside Lynwen Brennan as co-president, to guide the franchise forward. Kennedy, handpicked by George Lucas, oversaw the 'Star Wars' universe since Disney acquired it in 2012, leading to over $5.6 billion in box office revenue and establishing Disney+ as a streaming destination with hits like 'The Mandalorian' and 'Andor.' However, her tenure was also marked by a contentious sequel trilogy, fan frustrations, and production challenges on films like 'Solo: A Star Wars Story.' Dave Filoni, known for his work on 'Star Wars: The Clone Wars' and 'The Mandalorian,' will now lead the creative vision. Kennedy's legacy includes a massive expansion of 'Star Wars' storytelling, and her influence will still be seen in projects planned for years to come, but this leadership change signifies a new era for the iconic saga.
