BOOM! SpaceX Starship Explodes in Spectacular Texas Fireball!
by Amanda Ireland in SpaceA SpaceX Starship rocket exploded during a test in Texas on Wednesday night, creating a dramatic fireball. SpaceX stated the rocket experienced a “major anomaly” while on the test stand, preparing for its tenth flight test at Starbase in southern Texas. The company assured that a safety zone was maintained and all personnel are safe. This incident follows a string of Starship mishaps, including a “rapid unscheduled disassembly” in January near the Caribbean, a loss of contact and break-up during a March test flight over Florida, and an uncontrolled tumble and break-up of a Starship rocket in May after launch from Texas. Despite previous setbacks, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk had expressed optimism, aiming for more frequent launches. SpaceX confirmed that Wednesday's explosion posed no threat to nearby communities and is cooperating with local officials.
