Following a surprise Israeli attack on Iran's military and nuclear programs, Israel appears to be expanding its air campaign. U.S. President Donald Trump issued an ominous message urging residents of Tehran to evacuate, stating that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. Trump later denied rushing back to Washington to work on a ceasefire, claiming his focus is on a better outcome than a ceasefire. The Israeli military called for the evacuation of 330,000 residents from a Tehran neighborhood. Israel claims its actions are necessary to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons. At least 224 people have been killed and 1,277 wounded in Iran, while 24 people have been killed and over 500 wounded in Israel. Iran has retaliated with missiles and drones. Tehran is experiencing widespread closures, traffic jams, and long lines at gas stations. Israel claims to have achieved aerial superiority over Tehran, destroying missile launchers, fighter planes, and command centers. An Israeli strike hit Iran's state-run TV station. Prime Minister Netanyahu claims the strikes have significantly set back Iran's nuclear program, though Iran maintains its program is peaceful. Israel has not yet destroyed Iran's Fordo uranium enrichment facility, which is deeply underground. Iran's foreign minister issued a veiled plea for U.S. intervention to negotiate an end to hostilities. Despite Trump's initial statements, he said he may send envoys to meet with Iranians. The situation remains highly volatile, with no sign of the conflict abating.
