Musk used his platform on X to rail against the documentary, describing it as a 'hit piece that misses' and 'boring af' due to its critical nature and length. He also amplified a conspiracy theory depicting Gibney as controlled by the Democratic party and George Soros, and called the film a 'psy op'. Musk specifically denied a claim by his ex-partner, Ashley St Clair, that his team offered her $40m for an NDA. He further endorsed criticism from podcaster Katie Miller, who complained about the alleged absence of Musk's acquaintances and allies in the film. Gibney, in turn, spoke of a 'sense of fear' among those he approached for the film and speculated that Musk's difficult childhood trauma might explain his current behavior.
