Nintendo's Switch 2 is a significant upgrade from its predecessor, focusing heavily on social gaming experiences. The new console boasts video and audio chat, game-sharing features, and even a Joy-Con that functions as a computer mouse. A camera attachment (sold separately) enables players to appear in video chats or even within compatible games. The Switch 2 features a larger 7.9-inch LCD screen (1080p handheld, 4K docked), improved Joy-Con controllers with a magnetic connection, and backward compatibility with many Switch games (though not all). Launch titles include Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, and Kirby Air Riders. The console will launch on June 5th at a price of $449.99. While the larger battery aims to compensate for increased power consumption, battery life remains variable. The higher price point is partly attributed to tariffs, and production was impacted by factors such as COVID-19 and chip shortages. The console requires a microSD express card (standard microSD cards are incompatible).
