Karol G headlined Coachella, making history as the first Latina woman to achieve this milestone in the festival's 27-year history. Her 90-minute set was a vibrant celebration of Latin pride and pan-American unity, drawing comparisons to Beyoncé's iconic performance. The show featured stunning costume changes, intricate choreography, a unique 'proto-cave rave' set design, and a large contingent of background dancers. Karol G seamlessly blended her reggaeton pop with various regional Latin styles, including mambo and mariachi (with an all-female band). Guest appearances included Becky G, who spoke out in support of immigrants, Greg Gonzalez from Cigarettes After Sex, and Puerto Rican reggaeton legend Wisin. Karol G subtly addressed the struggles of the Latina community and immigrants in the US, emphasizing messages of 'unity, resilience and strength.' The performance culminated with a cover of Gloria Estefan's 'Mi Tierra' and an EDM-ified 'Provenza,' utilizing full stage pyrotechnics, lasers, and confetti, symbolizing a collective victory for the Latin community.
