Lando Norris secured his first Formula 1 World Championship at the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, finishing third in the race to narrowly beat defending champion Max Verstappen by two points in the overall standings.

McLaren driver Lando Norris, 26, clinched his maiden Formula 1 title at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, an emotional victory that saw him finish third in the race behind his teammate Oscar Piastri and race winner Max Verstappen. Despite Verstappen's race win, Norris's third-place finish was sufficient to secure the championship by a mere two points, denying Verstappen a fifth consecutive title. Norris's journey, which began with karting at age eight and included seven race wins this season, culminated in an outpouring of tears and joy as he became Britain's 11th F1 champion and the first since Lewis Hamilton in 2020. Piastri finished third in the standings, 13 points behind Norris, while Verstappen's late-season charge, including an eighth win of the season, ultimately fell short.
