Russian drones attacked the Ukrainian port city of Odesa, resulting in two deaths and at least 17 injuries. Simultaneously, Ukrainian forces used drones to strike the Kirovske military airfield in Russian-occupied Crimea, destroying three attack helicopters (Mi-8, Mi-26, and Mi-28) and a Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft system. In Odesa, a residential building was hit, causing damage to three floors. The Russian Defense Ministry claimed to have shot down over 40 Ukrainian drones. The ongoing conflict features a drone arms race, with both sides using increasingly sophisticated technology. A UN report indicates that short-range drone attacks have killed at least 395 and injured 2,635 civilians since February 2022, with Russia responsible for almost 90% of these attacks. The overall civilian death toll from the war exceeds 13,300.
