Canadian rock legend Bryan Adams has released a new song, 'Lake Ontario,' directly criticizing US President Donald Trump for attempting to rename the lake and escalating tensions between the two nations.

Canadian rock star Bryan Adams has released a new song titled 'Lake Ontario,' which directly targets US President Donald Trump. In the track, Adams accuses Trump of 'breaking the peace' between the US and Canada, specifically addressing Trump's August executive order to rename Lake Ontario 'Lake America,' a move that mirrored his earlier, widely mocked decision to rename the Gulf of Mexico 'the Gulf of America.' This action further strained the long-standing alliance between the two countries. Adams's lyrics highlight the historical significance of the name, emphasizing its Iroquois origins as 'the lake of shining waters,' not an executive order. The song also suggests that Trump's renaming stunt was a diversion from other political issues, such as the war in Iran and renewed scrutiny of the Jeffrey Epstein files. 'Lake Ontario' is part of Adams's upcoming album, 'How's It Goin',' which he describes as a 'love letter' to Canada. The album also features another anti-Trump song, '51st State,' released on Canada Day, which repudiates Trump's efforts to annex Canada. Adams noted that when he first played these songs in the US, they received standing ovations, leading him to believe that 'perhaps, finally, the tide’s turning.'
