The intense artillery exchanges continued into Friday morning, with reports of continued firing well into the morning. The death toll has risen to 18 in Indian-controlled Kashmir and 17 in Pakistan-administered Kashmir since Wednesday. Tens of thousands of civilians have been evacuated from border villages. Tensions escalated after an attack on a tourist site in Indian-controlled Kashmir on April 22, which India blames on Pakistan. India subsequently conducted airstrikes in Pakistan, and both countries allege attacks from the other side. India ordered X (formerly Twitter) to block over 8,000 accounts, citing censorship concerns. The crisis led to the suspension of the Indian Premier League cricket tournament, school closures, and flight cancellations. US Vice President JD Vance stated that a potential war between India and Pakistan would be "none of our business."
