Vance Boelter was arrested and charged with the murder of former Democratic House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, and the attempted murder of Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette. Boelter allegedly posed as a police officer and shot the Hoffmans at their home before fatally shooting the Hortmans at their home nearby. A nearly two-day manhunt, described as the largest in state history, ensued, involving 20 tactical teams. Boelter was eventually located and surrendered to police in the woods near his home.
